Site Licenses for Educational Institutions

Site licensing is the cheapest and easiest way to make software available to everyone who needs or wants to use it.  It's good for you because it simplifies the purchasing and installation process and saves time and money.  It's good for us because it makes our product available on the largest number of computers.  We try to make licensing easy for you, and affordable compared with other mission-critical software for academic scholarship.

How it works

Licensing Scheme:

bulletper-version, perpetual -- e.g., if you buy Version 1 of NoteWorthy, you can install and use it and all version 1.x updates in perpetuity on any computer in your .edu domain (upgrades to version 2 would require a new license)
bulletentitles all students, faculty and staff to use NoteWorthy at any school computer, and on their personal computer at home or in their dorm room, and on any mobile computer that is their property.  (This right is granted to the institution and not the individuals, and so this license reverts to the institution upon a student's graduation.)  If your needs are more modest than this -- say, licenses for all faculty only -- you may wish to compare the cost of volume licensing.  However, it is still worth getting a site license quote, as this may prove more affordable.
bulletcross-platform -- includes both Windows and Mac licenses
bulletincludes all lab machines on campus

Optional Maintenance Contract

bulletWe send your designated contact person a CD or email with every update
bulletYou are entitled to major upgrades that take place during the term of your contract (e.g., version 1.x to version 2.0).  This assures that you are promptly and seamlessly able to take advantage of the latest version of NoteWorthy.

License Distribution and Copy Protection

bulletNoteWorthy is normally distributed as Trialware which runs for 45 days on any given machine, after which the user is "locked out" until she enters a valid registration code.  NoteWorthy uses a number of plug-in files, and so it cannot be pirated just be copying the application.  We ENCOURAGE users to share the NoteWorthy trialware installer (but not their purchased registration codes!) with their friends.
bulletWe will supply a unique registration code to be used for all installations at your school, along with an installer for the software, and an archive of the files used and instructions for where these need to be placed if you are building your own installer.
bulletYou can have your ITS personnel install software, install it on the "footprint" of a standard desktop, and allow users to install it themselves.  However, you may not distribute to users an installer that will place an unlocked copy of NoteWorthy on their desktop without entry of a registration code, so if users install their own software, you must distribute copies of the site license registration code in a secure fashion.

Cost

Because there are so many dimensions along which purchasing institutions differ, it is not possible to give a simple list of site license prices on our website.  We WANT you to site license our software, even though in the short run we might make more money with individual sales.
