NoteWorthy for OS X!
NoteWorthy Virtual Notecards has now been developed for
Mac OS X, and is now in beta testing. It will be
released commercially in the Fall of 2003.
This release of NoteWorthy will be similar in features to
NoteWorthy Virtual Notecards version 1 for Windows and for
Mac OS Classic. However, the process of porting to OS
X required some changes to the data structure, and so this
release will be labeled as a major upgrade, Version 2, with
compatible versions released for Mac Classic and Windows.

FAQ
When will I be able to get my hands on it?
You can test it in beta mode now. Just sign up as a
beta tester.
It will be available for sale sometime in the fall.
We can't give a more precise estimate than that.
I do not use OS X. Do I need to upgrade?
First, let us stress that the upgrade will not be costly
for existing users. That being said, the main virtue of this
release is OS X support. If you are using NoteWorthy
only on Windows or plan to keep using it in Mac OS 9 for the
forseeable future, and everything is to your liking just the
way it is, there is always something to be said for not
fixing what isn't broken. However, our bug fixes will
continue only along the v2.x pathway.
Can I use NoteWorthy 2 for OS X datafiles with Mac
Classic or Windows versions?
Yes and no. You can interchange datafiles between
platforms in v2 releases, just as in v1, only you will not
need to use the Transporter program to do so. However,
data files that have been opened with version 2 cannot
afterwards be read by version 1. This means you should
absolutely, positively, use a COPY of your datafiles when
you open them with Version 2, so as to keep an original that
can still be read by Version 1, if you wish to do so.
Will Version 2 for Mac OS Classic and Version 2 for OS X
be sold as separate products?
We anticipate that they will be sold as one
product. NoteWorthy for Macintosh will, however, be
sold separately form NoteWorthy for Windows.
Will Version 2 be available for site licensing?
Yes. Absolutely.
Will the Free Lab Promo be available with Version 2?
Yes.
There are features I'd like to see in future versions of
NoteWorthy. Are there plans for upgrades beyond
Version 2?
Absolutely. When we finally had what we needed to
develop for OS X, we decided to get it out the door as
quickly as possible. That meant developing it with the
current (v1) feature set and putting other things we've been
working on off until Version 3. If we had not had to
make changes in data file structure, we would have called
this Version 1 for OS X. However, the datafile change
seemed to warrant a major version numbering. We
hope to make the transition to Version 2 quite affordable
for current customers, and to have a Version 3 as soon as
possible.
